Writing these meaningless subtitles is hard, OK? Give me a break!

Welcome to another installation of Behind the Scenes, where we take a look at some of the planning and sketching that went into the creation of these 2-D design projects. This time around, we'll be checking out the planning that went into the creation of the huge mess of Gestalt principles that is the Super Collider.

What have we got here?

To begin the planning phase for this project, I began sketching out various ideas for three-dimensional elements to add to the collider, coming up with three unique ideas, all of which were free to be blended together if necessary. Of the three ideas, I mainly focused on Idea #1 (as indicated by the star next to its label). This idea consisted of having a three-dimensional element in each section of the collider that not only collided with every section wall, but also followed the theme of the quadrant that the element was placed in. The other two ideas involved more three dimensional elements being added, and the third idea called for holes to be removed in certain places to guide the viewer's eye between collider sections. In the end, however, these ideas ended up being scrapped, and Idea #1 quickly became the main priority.
